Songs
My name is Gary Bryan, and I’ve been writing little songs since I was in elementary school. Although I played rhythm guitar in a band when I was a kid, I’m definitely not a musician. I only learn to play an instrument well enough to get through a song. I’m obviously not a great singer either, but what can I do on a poor man’s budget?
The videos or lyrics below use a few songs that I’ve written and recorded over many decades, from the 1960s to the present (2024). My unpredictable lifestyle has claimed the lives of dozens of others. Most of the music is home recorded but a couple of them were recorded in studios.
Other people perform some of the songs, and I recorded one or two covers just for fun.
Dave Stevens wrote “We Were Myrchants of Tyme” for the band’s reunion and recording session (2005). The Myrchants were a moderately successful garage band in Miami, Florida, in the late 1960s. The band members included Kenny Pederson (drums), Dave Stevens (lead guitar), Don (DJ) Smith (bass guitar), and myself on rhythm guitar.
Since I’ve never made any money from songwriting, and at 75 years old, it’s not likely that I will, I’m sometimes asked why I continue to do it. I do it because I enjoy it, and at times, I feel compelled to do so.
