Our solar system is full of a lot of different things to see. There are millions of things in motion, including planets, moons, comets, and asteroids. These objects can be found all throughout the cosmos. Yet every year, scientists find that the Solar System is host to a growing number of objects, the majority of which take the form of zippy comets or little asteroids.
By the year 1846, astronomers had identified all eight of the major planets. Despite this, we continue to explore for other opportunities. In the past one hundred years, scientists have discovered smaller, more distant entities that they label dwarf planets. This is the category that we currently place Pluto in.
Because of the discovery of some of these so-called dwarf planets, we now have reason to assume that something else might be hiding on the outside of the Solar System.
